By now many McCall locals and Shore Lodge guests have experienced The Cutwater, Shore Lodge’s (and McCall’s) newest restaurant located on the shores of Payette Lake. Of course, it won’t be the new kid on the block for long with The Narrows Steakhouse and The Bar heading to Shore Lodge this winter.

If you haven’t been to The Cutwater yet, or have only experienced it once, there’s so much to try before the new culinary offerings arrive. From The Tank, an analog game room located alongside The Cutwater, to the tank, a 2,000-gallon saltwater fish tank brimming with colorful tropical sea life, to the cafe and of course, the simply delicious fare, there’s more to experience than can be sampled in a single visit.

Open year-round, seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Cutwater has an all-star lineup of menus to suit any appetite. Families can rejoice at the offerings of the children’s menu, which includes kid-approved favorites like Chocolate Chip Pancakes for breakfast, Mac & Cheese for lunch and Crispy Chicken Tenders for dinner, to name just a few. And if that doesn’t get their attention away from the tanks (game room and fish tank) a Brownie a la Mode or Giant Cupcake is sure to do the trick.

For the early birds, breakfast at The Cutwater comes in two options: grab-and-go treats and coffee from the cafe, or hearty farm to table plates that are sure to please any palate. The Mason Jar Parfait with Greek yogurt, fresh berries and house-made granola is a light and healthy option, while those looking for more of a commitment can dig into a hearty Idaho Frittata loaded with foraged mushrooms, Swiss chard, pink smoked trout and more. And while Eggs Benny, Jonny’s Huevos Rancheros and Biscuits and Gravy round out the tried & true options, it’s not a trip to McCall without a little huckleberry action. We recommend trying them in the pancakes.

Lunch at The Cutwater is quite an experience. Seasonal indoor/outdoor dining options mean you can take your meal al fresco along Payette Lake – the gem of McCall. During the winter months, floor to ceiling windows allow guests to enjoy the same view from the comfort and warmth of the dining room. And when done feasting your eyes on the scenery, the menu has many excellent options sure to satisfy. Carne Asada Cheese Fry Nachos get you started, while more modest appetites can enjoy Wild Mushroom Soup or an Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. A Highway 55 Spicy Pulled Pork Sandwich, Yesterday’s News beer battered Atlantic cod, and Winter Baked Ziti join The Cutwater Burger and the rest of the lineup to ensure that when the server arrives, you’ll need just a few more minutes to make your selection.

Of course, when scouting dinner options in McCall, look no further than The Cutwater, offering the flavors of the Pacific Northwest with the spirit of McCall for a one-two punch that can’t be beat. The “Double R” Beef Ribeye Steak Char-Grilled Prime, Slow Braised Short Rib and Snake River Farm Pork Chop will satisfy the carnivore in any group, while Pan Seared Pacific Wild Salmon, Oven Baked Chicken Parm and Southern Shrimp and Grits with andouille sausage provide delicious alternatives.
