McCall Winter Carnival

The countdown to one of McCall’s most treasured traditions is on: Winter Carnival is just a month away! Mark your calendars for January 30 – February 8, 2015 and plan to join us for one of the most memorable weeks in the Pacific Northwest. This year is an extra special one as Winter Carnival celebrates 50 years! And let us tell you, it’s looking better than ever.

This anniversary edition of the McCall Winter Carnival will bring back many of the events that have made it unforgettable for the past five decades. The snow sculpture competition, Mardi Gras parade, daily live music and a spectacular firework show over Payette Lake will all return this year. In addition, some of the more modern favorite events will include a ‘Black and Blue Rivalry’ hockey game between BSU and U of I, a snow bike race, the M-D Education Foundation spirits and chocolate tasting right here at Shore Lodge and the ever-adorable McPaws Monster Dog Pull.

McCall’s Winter Carnival was inspired by the Payette Lake Winter Games, originally held in 1924. That year, a train from Boise brought 248 visitors north. Now, the event pulls in more than 60,000 from around the country to experience the magic of McCall, Idaho and celebrate the beauty of the season.
