Summertime sunshine and a glass of great wine – in our mind, that’s the perfect combination. A couple of guys who happen to agree are our resident sommelier at Shore Lodge and Whitetail, Dave Boyle, and our friend from Copper Cane and Meiomi Wines, Doug Hengehold. Doug and Dave sat down recently to talk shop, highlighting a couple of their top picks from summer varietals:

Caymus Conundrum
An intriguing varietal from the Wagner Family of Wines, Conundrum features an innovative blend of green apple, tangerine and honeysuckle blossoms. The taste is often dubbed ‘exotic,’ with layers of peach, apricot nectar, green melon and pear, overlaid with subtle notes of citrus zest and spicy vanilla.

2013 Meiomi Pinot Noir
Lush, balanced and luxurious, this pinot is shaped by its highly-acclaimed fruit sources. The varietal is highly approachable and pairs well with many foods while maintaining a uniqueness that’s just perfectly light enough for summertime.
