They say family knows best, and when it comes to the world of wine, the Wente family certainly knows a thing or two. Founded in 1883 by C.H. Wente, Wente Vineyards is the oldest continuously operating, family-operated winery in the United States.

Located just east of San Francisco in the historic Livermore Valley, Wente Vineyards is cultivating quite a legacy as California’s first “Family of Chardonnay,” credited with bringing Chardonnay cuttings to the state of California more than 100 years ago. With their numerous accolades, including Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year, Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing designation and Wine Business Monthly’s “Top 30 Wine Company” award, this family of winegrowers definitely knows best.

Shore Lodge is excited to announce that Karl Wente, fifth generation winemaker of Wente Vineyards, will join The Narrows at Shore Lodge for its winter winemaker’s dinner, Saturday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Karl will discuss the Wente family philosophy as well as pair award-winning Wente Wines with The Narrows’ carefully crafted menu of seasonal dishes, in a five-course setting.

Take a look at the evening’s menu below. Dinner is priced at $120++ per person and reservations are required. Those who wish to make a night of the exclusive event, overnight lodging is available and offered as a package in addition to dinner tickets starting at $172 per person, based on double occupancy.
