In our last blog, we covered all the exciting and relaxing ways to enjoy your summers in McCall on land. Now we’ll go over some of the best experiences you can have on the water, from Payette Lake to hot springs and hot tubs, this two-part series will help you plan, prepare and pack for your upcoming summer getaway at Shore Lodge!

On Premises

Guests of Shore Lodge have the unique luxury of immediate access to the gem of McCall, Idaho – Payette Lake. The private Shore Lodge beachfront offers guests an opportunity to lay out and laze the day away in the sun, while the proximity to The Cutwater bar means you can do so with an expertly-crafted drink in hand. Meanwhile, our seasonal water trampoline provides fun for the entire family. Watch the kids leap into the clear mountain waters or get in on the action by outdoing their highest jump, either way, it’ll be a day on the beach they won’t soon forget!

The Marina

As a guest of Shore Lodge, you have multiple options for a day of boating on Payette Lake, including the ability to sail up in your personal vessel and moor on our private dock. Those arriving by car don’t need to remain landlocked. Guests can rent or charter one of the following vessels from our full-service marina for an additional fee.

The Private Dancer

Enjoy an elegant cocktail cruise aboard our 1996 Stan Craft. This torpedo-shaped, completely wooden boat is guaranteed to turn heads with its unique look and twin 350 horsepower engines, while comfortably entertaining up to three couples at a time.

The Cutwater

Charter a cruise on our classic 1958 32′ Chris-Craft and enjoy a front seat to the best view of Payette Lake. The Cutwater was made for fun and relaxation with a spacious cabin, comfortable seating, advanced stereo system and dive-worthy platform. And to top it off, catering options and to-go menus are available for your enjoyment while a knowledgeable professional captains your cruise.

Pontoon Boats

Want a thrill? Two 24′ Manitou Encore high performance, luxury pontoons are available for charter or rent. These twin crafts provide the speed necessary for wake boarding, water skiing and tubing. Best of all, there’s no need to BYO-Board, since you’ll find all you need to get these adventures underway at the marina.

Super Air Nautique 210

And for those seeking an even bigger thrill, the Super Air Nautique 210 is the top of the line wake surf, wakeboard and waterskiing boat, accommodating up to 12 people.

Of course, we understand that some guests prefer to make smaller waves, which is why you’ll find a selection of kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards and a Hobie Cat sailboat available as well.

For a more low-keyed day on the water, head for a soothing soak at to our year-round heated saltwater pool.

Around Town

While there are countless adventures to be had on premise, we must insist that guests explore the wonder that is McCall, Idaho. Here are just a few of the water-based activities to be found.

White Water Rafting

Did you know that Idaho is known as the Whitewater State? Here in McCall, you can get your white-knuckle thrill with white water rafting on the Salmon River or Payette River. Simply contact our concierge and they’ll be happy to help you plan your adventure.

If your idea of a perfect getaway involves fishing, then you’ve arrived at the right spot! There are a number of places to cast your reel, from Goose Lake (15mi), where visitors can find brook trout, cutthroat trout and rainbow trout by casting from a float tube, to a day trip to Fischer Pond’s family friendly terrain (40mi). Those looking for the road less traveled can drive 27 miles and trek the narrow gravel road to Hazard Lake, or bring home a brag-worthy story with Louie Lake’s trophy cutthroat trout (40mi). Guests can also stay local by fishing on Payette Lake. Our concierge is on hand to help guests find the perfect fishing and fly fishing spots.

Hot Springs

Few things are as instantly gratifying as a soothing, hot soak. Idaho has the most usable hot springs in the nation, with approximately 130 ‘soakable’ hot spots. Two of the nearest — and dearest — hot springs are Gold Fork Hot Springs, located 24 miles to the south, and Burgdorf a “worth-it” 30 miles to the north.

We hope this overview of fun-in-the-sun activities helps you get the most out of your summer stay at Shore Lodge, but remember that our concierge is always available to help you find the best adventures to suit your vacation needs. Now, it’s time to make a splash!
