March 2025
As a year-round destination, any time of year is a great reason to come and experience Shore Lodge. While mountain-lake summers and snow-capped winters get their fair share of attention, the spring and fall seasons are a hidden gem for those ‘in the know.’ Some of the best times to visit us are during quieter times.
Unique Seasonal Activities to Experience in McCall
The beauty of being located in McCall, Idaho, is the ability to experience activities year-round. Depending on weather conditions, it’s not unusual to enjoy some last-minute winter activities late in March. Spring break in McCall can easily include a day spent at Brundage Mountain, recently named the best ski resort you’ve probably never heard of by National Geographic. You can also go snowshoeing through Ponderosa State Park or Nordic skiing at Bear Basin, a local favorite home to the highest elevation of Nordic skiing in the McCall area.
And no worries if you’re visiting more towards the tail end of spring once all the snow has melted, there are still plenty of adventures to enjoy! Whether you’re looking to take it slow or challenge yourself, hike through one of McCall’s best hiking trails. Visit a local hot spring on a chilly spring morning to warm yourself up or schedule an appointment at The Cove for a spa treatment followed by a soak in the indoor/outdoor heated immersion pools.
Later in the year, as we transition into fall, McCall reveals itself as a scenic retreat with cooler temperatures and the subtle introduction of foliage. After Labor Day is the ideal time to take your getaway to Shore Lodge. While temperatures dip in the evening, you can still bask in the sun during the early afternoon at our private beachfront on the shore of Payette Lake or take a refreshing swim. If you prefer lounging poolside rather than lakeside, make your way over to our outdoor heated pool and hot tubs and enjoy a sweet treat at sunset with our complimentary s’mores.
Beyond the lodge, a world of adventure awaits right outside our door. In the fall, immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of Payette National Forest by taking a hike and letting the autumn breeze keep you cool. For golf enthusiasts, our concierge team is here to help you secure a tee time at Whitetail Club’s golf course so you can make the most of the end of golfing season. Looking for a backcountry thrill? Embark on an ATV excursion through McCall’s world-class terrain. Alternatively, you can hop on a cruiser bike and pedal into town, treating yourself to a delicious, sweet treat from Squatch Sweets.
Your Own Private Idaho
Not only do you get to experience popular summer and winter seasonal activities in the spring and fall, but the best pro tip, if you ask us, is fewer crowds in McCall. A mountain-lake summer getaway or a winter trip to hit the slopes is considered prime time everywhere and often takes reservations made well in advance. Spring and fall offer the chance to do something more spontaneous, where you won’t have to spend months in advance planning excursions or making reservations for restaurants, spa appointments, and lodging. Instead, you can browse at your leisure and take the time to ensure you are checking off your vacation itinerary to-dos without the stress of overwhelming crowds and enjoy your own private Idaho.

Live Like a Local
Experiencing the wonders of McCall is a year-round endeavor. But once you check off the backcountry excursions and all other outdoor activities, you can take the time to experience McCall like a local. McCall’s Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau hosts a monthly event calendar to keep you informed about what’s happening in and around town during your stay. From wellness workshops, casual hangouts at Broken Horn Brewing for a Monday Jam Session, to various workout classes you can take to keep your at-home routine, including Jump board Reformer Core, Power Pilates, and more, immerse yourself into the mountain lifestyle.
Plus, you can also browse events happening at Shore Lodge! From exclusive Happy Hours at The Bar hosted every first Friday of the month to Dinner & A Movie every Tuesday and ongoing culinary events, one thing is for certain: there’s always something to plan for.
